JoVE Science Education. Essentials of Physical Examinations

Two new video series on clinical examination skills are now available at the JoVE Science Education Database.


Essentials of Physical Examinations Part I provides the foundation for performing physical examinations. It introduces several universal concepts such as inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation, together with pulmonary and cardiovascular physical exam techniques.  

Essentials of Physical Examinations Part II provides more specialized examination techniques. It covers HEENT exams, abdominal exams and male & female specific structure exams.

Science Immunology

The Library has subscribed to the new e-journal Science Immunology.

Science Immunology will publish original, peer-reviewed, science-based research articles that report critical advances in all areas of immunological research, including important new tools and techniques. Areas covered range from basic studies into the biology of innate and adaptive immunity (immune cell development and differentiation, immunogenomics, systems immunology, structural immunology, antigen presentation, immunometabolism, and mucosal immunology) to immune contributions to health and disease (host defense, inflammation, cancer immunology, autoimmunity, allergy, transplantation, and immunodeficiency).

This database contains  over  2,100  specially  prepared,  animated,  seminar-style, online   lectures   by   world   leading   authorities  for  universities,  research  centres, medical  schools  and  pharmaceutical/biotech companies, including Nobel, Breakthrough and Lasker Prize winners.

This new Nature journal is concerned with all aspects of microorganisms be it their evolution, physiology and cell biology, their interactions with each other, with a host, with an environment, or their societal significance.

Publishing monthly, the journal is committed to publishing primary research into infectious disease and pathogenesis, antimicrobials, symbiosis, microbiomes, ecology, cell biology and physiology. It will also address areas where microorganisms impact on society and vice versa.
